Note: Harps Products is in a transitional stage where we are moving away from doing the service of repairing receivers to a service where we supply the user with How-To’s and offer support (both us and the users who frequent the site) to help them repair their own equipment. This said, as we transition some of the below questions and answers will be removed and others will appear. We thank you for your patience and support and encourage any questions, comments or suggestions that you might have be made.
How do I respond, comment or ask a question regarding an article of interest?
At the bottom right of articles that allow input you will find the link; ‘Add a comment(X views)’. You click on this link and add your comment in the form that will appear. It is considered nice etiquette to include your name (i.e. nickname). If you want to include an image or link to a file you would just put the url, i.e.;
http://www.xxxx.com/image.jpg
(replacing the x’s, com, file name with the appropriate one). If there isn’t a ‘Add a comment(X views)’ link, it isn’t an option to leave a comment on the page. You can however use the ‘Contact’ link in the menu to comment, ask your question, make a suggestion, etc. in the absence of the link.
How do I search for content on the site?
You use the search form found on the top right of the page.
How do I search for content on the www (world wide web)?
You use the ‘Google Search’ form found on the right midways down the page.
How long will it take me to get my receiver back?
In some cases your receiver will be return shipped the day we get it, but in most cases it will be return shipped the day after we receive it if payment has been made. We will give you a time estimate upon request when you make your Jtag Service Request or you can Contact Us and inquire before making your service request.
In what condition will my receiver be returned?
Your receiver will be returned working with the latest factory bin installed or the factory bin of your choice as long as it is available. In the rare instance that we have received your receiver and found the power supply to be bad, we will contact you immediately and inform you.
Can I send two receivers at the same time?
Yes, but they must be shipped in two separate packages and you will have to submit two Jtag Repair Requests.
Why can’t I ship two receivers in the same package?
To lessen the chance of damage during shipping and it makes it easier on us to keep up with the individual receivers.
What if my receiver has a dead power supply?
You will be contacted, if you decide you want us to replace the dead power supply, we will do so at an additional charge that will be made known to you. This charge will be based on the current price of an available power supply and an additional service charge of $15.00. If you decide you don’t want the power supply replaced we will return it to you with a refund minus the shipping cost and a $10.00 handling fee.
Will a jtag repair prevent my receiver from ever going dead again?
Your receiver will be returned in factory condition (software), but there is always the chance your receiver might die again if you load corrupted or faulty software, load software improperly or something else unforeseen happens, i.e.; power spike or loss during transfer, a short in your serial cable, etc.
Do you do any other repairs besides jtag or power supply replacement in certain circumstances?
No, we do not repair broken connections or do tsop replacement. We specialize in jtag repair only.
Do you give a discount if a receiver is returned for repair a second time?
No, all equipment is tested extensively after repair before it is returned and if the equipment ‘dies’ again it is through no fault of our own, but rather due to bad software or loading techniques.
What happens if I order multiple items and you don’t have the quantity in stock?
You will be contacted and given the following options: 1. Receiving what we currently have available immediately and having the rest shipped when we have them with no additional shipping costs. (Usually a matter of a couple of days.) 2. Receiving what we currently have available, getting a refund for the balance not in stock and having the shipping charges reduced to reflect the actual amount received. 3. Canceling the order and receiving a full refund. Note: To this date we have yet to have all items advertised in stock and available to fill all orders received, but it is foreseeable that in the event of heavy ordering we could find ourselves out of stock. We will strive to keep sufficient stock on hand and in the event of any shortages limit or disable ordering of such items.
Do you repair ‘Insert Non Listed Name Brand Here’ receiver and if not, why not?
A list of the common receivers we repair can be found here. If your receiver is not on the list than it is likely we cannot repair it for one of the following reasons: 1. The receiver does not have a jtag header or pads so there isn’t immediate access to erase and rewrite the software. 2. The receiver does have a jtag header or pads but there isn’t any available software (full jtag flash) to rewrite to the receiver. 3. The receiver does have a jtag header but there isn’t jtag software or techniques currently available to repair the receiver. 4. The receiver does have a jtag header or pads but has been damaged prior to being shipped for repair due to faulty soldering or components being shorted out due to repair attempts made prior to shipment. In the event any receivers are received there will be a $10.00 handling fee charged despite the fact the receiver will be returned in the same condition as shipped. It is important that all questions are asked before shipping your receiver and if you have attempted any soldering but failed to make a jtag connection to state so before shipping your receiver and do not ship until you have heard back from us and been told it is ok to ship your receiver.
